Yo Soy El Salvador (I Am El Salvador)
I am half Salvadoran. My dad was forced to leave his country and come to the U.S. because of the civil war in 1980. He took us to live in El Salvador from 2000-2004. El Salvador is my childhood, my second home, and part of my identity.
In 2018 Donald Trump labeled El Salvador a “shithole country” – just another label to add to the skewed perception of an entire country created by U.S. politicians, media and entertainment.
Salvadorans are more than labels. We are kind, we are strong, and we are human.
The following creative was made as my passion project in BU’s ad program but with an added effort to connect with the Salvadoran community here in Boston.
